I’ve always believed design should make the world more understandable, inclusive, and human. My journey into instructional design began with a Commodore 64 and a curiosity for how people learn through technology, a curiosity that evolved into a 24-year career building accessible, human-centered learning systems across K-12, higher education, and government sectors.
Today, I specialize in system-level instructional design, leading organizations in building learning ecosystems that are scalable, measurable, and inclusive by design. My work integrates instructional systems theory, user experience design, and accessibility governance to create environments where every learner can thrive.
I currently serve as a Senior Instructional Designer at RaLytics, where I led the enterprise implementation of the Brightspace LMS and developed the Digital Accessibility Maturity Model, a nationally recognized framework that helps institutions benchmark, monitor, and grow their accessibility capacity. Previously, I authored the first organization-wide Accessibility Plan for the North Carolina Virtual Public School, a model now cited by CITES and Quality Matters for advancing digital inclusion at scale.
Across my career, I’ve partnered with universities, government agencies, and private organizations to design and evaluate learning ecosystems, training frameworks, and experiential programs that bridge education and workforce development. My work has been presented nationally through ATIA, FETC, CoSN, and Quality Matters, and I continue to mentor emerging designers in accessibility-driven learning design and AI-enhanced instructional innovation.
Holding an Ed.D. in Educational Technology from Boise State University, a graduate certificate in Web Development from East Carolina University, and an M.A. in Instructional Technology and Educational Media from Appalachian State University, I blend research, design, and implementation to deliver learning experiences that are both data-informed and deeply human.
My philosophy is simple: meaningful learning design begins with empathy, scales with systems, and endures through accessibility.
