This animated presentation and quiz was created using Articulate Storyline. I set up triggers to automatically pause the timeline (audio and video) until the user clicks the button to play the animation to address the default auto play setting in Storyline which is an accessibility concern. The object has been configured to connect to the learning management system gradebook through a SCORM package.
The following activity was created from scratch using a freeform question type in Articulate Storyline. Students are shown a direction slide at the start of the activity where they are required to type in their name before they can continue. The name is then saved as a variable and used again at the end of the activity to personalize the results. The activity was designed to help 8th-Grade middle school math students identify the different types of rational and irrational numbers. The activity is SCORM compliant so it will talk to the gradebook in a learning management system.
The following Articulate Rise lesson was created to train course development team members on the importance of creating accessible digital content. We are also currently in the process of using the same Rise lesson to help train NC Virtual teachers on how to create accessible course announcements. The lesson was created to not only to explain what to be concerned with when creating digital content that is accessible but also to demonstrate how different types of students are impacted. The following video was created using Articulate Storyline, the Explain Everything app, and iMovie. Articulate Storyline was used to create the initial slide and timeline for the base video. A second video was created using the Explain Everything app to show the two different mathematical calculations. The videos were then put together using the picture in picture feature in iMovie. In the original activity, students were presented with a word problem to solve. The video below is a solution video they are shown to use to check their answers once they have solved the problem.
The following video was created to add teacher presence to an assignment in an 8th-grade math course where students are asked to create a math assessment that includes five specific types of questions. I created the video to explain the assignment to students.
I recently used Articulate Storyline to build the Getting Started Unit (GSU) for North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS). The unique thing about the way the GSU is set up is that it has been configured so that students only have to complete the orientation once regardless of the number of courses in which they are enrolled with NCVPS.
